Could it be that both the Impeachment process and the Federal Investigation were both done a little hasty?
The Feds may have pulled the plug on the investigation a little too soon. The Feds should have let Blago continue to play his hand, right down to accepting a bribe for the appointment. The Feds could have waited until the suitcase full of cash showed up with Blago, and also could have waited until Blago made the subsequent appointment as the return favor-payoff. Then they would have gotten a two for one type deal. The Feds would have landed a crooked governor and a crooked politician. Now we are left to wonder about who may have been more than willing to pay for the Senate seat. All these wild accusations would have been founded by the evidence and Blago for his part would have been caught red-handed and without a defense.
Blago would have been stripped immediately in the face of insurmountable evidence. Remember when Mayor Barry got caught smoking crack with the prostitute? He was left without a defense, much in the same way Blago would have been.
Imagine CNN playing the tape over and over again showing Blago with the suitcase full of money. What would he have said then?

You write in the spirit of Harry Reid who says Burris won't be seated. The real sad part about this is the state of the Senate and the introspect view this has caused all Americans to take about our institution.

I think that the governor should have talked this over before selling the seat because if he had talked it over before doing this he could have gotten feedback from all of the other people he has worked with on whether to do that or not instead of doing without talking it over.

But one of your every own has been elected President. All should be fine in the state. Are or you saying the boys and girls from Illinois are just being a little backwards in the deal. You surely have my vote. Along with Minnesota, Illinois is showing what they are really made of. And you said it best....................CROOKS!!

I also agree that a special election should take place. Elect a Senator and a Governor.

Hey! Have you been away for a while, or have I just constantly missed your posts? At any rate, it's good to be able to catch some Rainy Day News again.

Blago was terrible for Illinois. I'm glad he'll be going away. I hate to say it, but I agree with Sen. Durbin- a special election should be held in order to have a fairly elected replacement for the vacant seat.

Cheers

This is scary in more ways than one. This is the political system Obama came out of. Hopefully, he won't take the path these scumbags have taken.
